About the Journal

VOK@SINDO is the official journal of applied sciences published by the Vocational Faculty of Universitas Brawijaya, a non-profit organization aimed at fostering collaboration among academics, practitioners, and policymakers involved in the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) ecosystem. As the official journal of the Vocational Faculty, VOK@SINDO is committed to advancing knowledge dissemination across these key areas.

VOK@SINDO is an international, scholarly, and double-anonymized peer-reviewed journal offering practical, analytical, and theoretical insights into MSMEs and entrepreneurship. Initially established as a platform for research focused on Asia, the journal continues to prioritize studies from this region while remaining open to global contributions. We are dedicated to publishing high-quality, rigorous research from diverse disciplines, with the overarching aim of supporting and enhancing the development of MSMEs across Asia and beyond. Recent years have seen submissions from academics and practitioners worldwide, highlighting the journal's relevance to entrepreneurship research globally, with a special emphasis on the Asian context.

Aims and Scope
Our journal publishes rigorous, peer-reviewed studies focusing on MSMEs and entrepreneurship, targeting academic researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. We welcome practical contributions and methodologically sound studies—empirical, theoretical, or mixed methods—that are directly relevant to entrepreneurship and MSMEs, particularly within the Asian context.

We seek topics that contribute to the body of knowledge supporting the growth and sustainability of MSMEs, with a strong emphasis on Asia. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Growth and new venture development: including opportunity identification, business growth, and internationalization of MSMEs, especially within Asian markets.
  • Inclusive entrepreneurship: such as disability entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, creative entrepreneurship, and minority entrepreneurship (e.g., ethnic, indigenous, or women entrepreneurs) in the Asian context.
  • Gender and entrepreneurship in Asia.
  • Family business dynamics in Asian cultures.
  • Entrepreneurship education, including teaching case studies with relevance to Asian MSMEs.
  • MSME responses to crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, or natural disasters affecting Asian regions.
  • Digital transformation of MSMEs in Asia.
  • The social role and cultural significance of MSMEs within Asian communities.
  • Research notes: shorter articles reflecting ongoing studies with a focus on Asia.
